I am very honored to announce the winner of the inaugural Jeffrey Howard Conord Leadership and Valor Scholarship Award. New nominations for 2018 HS Grads will be accepted starting January 1st through June 2018.
A freshman at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth Minnesota, Brielle spent the last 9 years playing lacrosse. As the starting goalie, and captain for her Varsity team last year, Brielle used her leadership skills on and off the field to grow personally as well as support her teammates and lead them to a fantastic season. Not only did she work hard at practice, play through illness and injury, but she became the go to for the new players who needed help, support, often a ride home, or just teammate love. When someone was struggling, Brielle was the first person the girls thought of to help them get through. She finished her senior season with the South Suburban All Conference Award.
Brielle’s step father is a recently retired Air National Guardsman. Brielle plans to major in nursing.
Brielle’s thoughts on leadership:
“To me a good leader is someone who brings the team together. They are kind and inclusive towards everyone and they push others to be the best version of themselves. They lead by example on and off the field, have integrity, and play with heart. Good leaders are dedicated and push themselves even if things are difficult. Good leaders are encouraging to their teammates and always want what is best. They are proud of their team no matter the score as long as they did their best because they know that they are becoming better and better through each experience, practice, and game. Good leaders also have positive attitudes and are respectful to other teammates, coaches, and officials.” Brielle Walter
Congrats Brielle, thank you for leading like Jeff.
